Problems found after launch are more embarrassing and more expensive than those found before it. Use this checklist before a website or web application goes live.
Content and design
- Every page reads correctly on a phone, a tablet and a desktop.
- Spelling, contact details, prices and links have been checked.
- Images are compressed so pages load quickly.
- Your logo, favicon and page titles are in place.
Forms and communication
- Every form sends its message to the right inbox, and you have tested it.
- Visitors get a confirmation after they submit a form.
- WhatsApp, call and email buttons open the right contact.
Basics of safety
- The site runs over HTTPS with a valid certificate.
- Admin accounts use strong passwords and each person has their own login.
- Default and test accounts are removed.
- Backups are running and a restore has been tried at least once.
Search and measurement
- Pages have clear titles and descriptions, and a sitemap is available.
- Analytics is installed so you can see visits and enquiries.
- Old addresses redirect to the new ones if you replaced an existing site.
After launch
Decide who looks after updates, backups and content. Sites that nobody owns slowly break. We offer hosting and maintenance if you would like us to take care of this for you.
